It's close to the size of a shepherd. Mentally, well, it seems she's much more the jack-russell: she's very quick-and-smart, clever, cheerful, too-damn-playful (hyper, really), the energy of a ferret after a couple of Red Bulls, and very territorial - a completely lousy fit for the somewhat sedate, elderly, low-action person (my mom) who is her owner (but an awesome blend of traits otherwise).  She was a 3-month old stray my mom took in, not at all knowing what she was getting into.
I've actually recommended she give the dog up for adoption to someone with a much bigger yard, the time, experience, energy and the people (say, a medium-to-large family) to love and engage the dog as she so misses and deserves (or so i understand from my recent googling of Jack Russell Terriers). I am trying to learn more about JRTerrs.

   >From a lifelong doglover and current caretaker of one (a germ shepherd -slash - jack russell terror) you have my cheers and congrats. Do you have any pictures of the puppies?
(i wonder if a dog's intelligence also is affected by the 'born in spring/fall' rules...)

PS: ha, you called them plump! ;)

They're only eight days old, they won't be going out into the garden for a few weeks yet regardless of weather.
