Personally I'd be stoked if after every song my favourite bands would turn
around, down-trou and bend over and let me insert quarters up their chuffs,
slap their cheeks and tell them what to play and EXACTLY how and for how
long.

This is interesting but a bit troubling as well.
It's taking away from what should be a tour promoting a new, hopefully
excellent album. I think it's no coincidence this is being announced soon
after it's been revealed the new album will not be released before or
perhaps even 'til after the Spring North American tour's finished. I think
it's pretty obvious most if not all of the upcoming shows will be "Night
Time" showcases and I also wouldn't be surprised if another "classic" full
album like KJ2003 isn't showcased at some other shows. They're not going to
rehearse an entire album to play it at one small venue show in a secondary
market.
Frankly, I personally do not like the current trend of older bands doing
complete run-throughs of classic albums. It kills the spontaneity of a good
part of a set (OoooOoo, "Love Like Blood" is coming next, then let's go take
a piss break during "Kings and Queens" etc) and panders to nostalgia,
something after the last year or so "reunion" showcase gigs and especially
all the crowing about a new upcoming album overflowing with tracks just
doesn't fit.
IMO, I'd guess there's two options - one is a set composed of *just* Night
Time and new tracks with maybe one or two old burned out warhorse tunes, or
next to no new tracks or Night Time and about 10 of the usual oldies. It
all points to playing it safe and a lack of faith in the new material to
carry the day.
