Have you got Insignificance (Signify out takes) and Out Absentia (In
Absentia out takes surprisingly!)?

Insignificance is quite interesting as it shows how Signify evolved from
an attempt to play Halo Galo (Neu!)

Both worth a listen . .

Ooh nice, thanks...Nine Cats is probably my favourite PT song, keen to
hear how it gestated...

Gotta admit I like their gruntier stuff more than some of that early
ambient stuff (although Voyage 34 and On the Sunday of life I really
like)...but stuff like Trains, the second half of Deadwing, the more
mellow tracks off the last 2 albums, Shesmovedon, while not heavy, is
one of the big reasons I'm into them. Layers, texture, dynamic,
songcraft, musicianship, emotion...amazing.

Would love to hear Open Car live...that's a relatively grunty song that
they've cranked even more live...

Saw them a couple of months ago and my oh my were they dull! If they're
doing the 'Incident' tour then get there about an hour in and then they
show they can be a cracking rock band , before that and you may as well
give up live music, your job and take up dungeons and dragons

Everyone has said the same and I've looked at a lot of their
live vids, hence I'm expecting something special :-)

I saw them in L.A. last Sept. They were incredibly good, and I
think you will have a fine time, Brendan. And props to them for heading
down to your part of the world.

Cheers,

I'm looking forward to it seeing PT this weekend. Unlike
*some* bands they get around to more than the US / UK...harrumph.

A while ago we were knocking together a list of bands in
a similar style to Porcupine Tree . . . I have two to add that I
(unforgivably!) forgot about last time . . .

Amplifier and (the mighty) Oceansize . . . Oceansize in
particular are sometimes very close to PT's heavier moments
