I honestly did not buy that much this year. And half were reissues or older used stuff. soooo.. of the stuff that is not antiques
Michael Gira - I am Not Mad...I'd give it a solid 7. The book is great. It wasn't meant to be top notch. It is demos for the upcoming Swans which speaking of
Swans - My Father Will Guide Me Up A Rope to the Sky - Solid 9. It is hard to believe how the songs have transformed from demo to final output. And live. Whoa. real heavy and scary.
Systematic Death - 7. Rating 8. I would imagine the majority are not familiar. Late 80s Japan intense hardcore. Broke up and now back and it is as good if not better.
Candy Snatchers - The World is Wrong. 6. It is a posthumous release. Guitarist died a while back. I guess this has been waiting to get released. A good release but the Candy Snatchers time has come and gone by this point. Good songwriting but just not what they used to be. Dangerous and bloody high voltage rock.
Killing Joke - Absolute Dissent and In Excelsis. Both get 8. Blah blah blah. We've all read it here in one form or another. Glad to own them and enjoy them. Nice return
Foetus - Hide. 8. He amazes me with every release in every incarnation. I may not listen to everything regularly. But there are so many twists and turns and things that, after listening, wouldn't seem to make sense. But they do. Seamlessly.

I think that's it. Pretty quiet. Been preoccupied with lots of other life things

Crank it up for 2011
New Motörhead coming out ;)

Chris

I've bought lots of albums this year, but only two that are actually new. The other one is Richard Thompson's Dream Attic. It's very good.

As well as Absolute Dissent, I've bought some of the remasters and one of the live recordings. I've also bought similar items from Bauhaus and Love & Rockets. Last week I rediscovered how great The Mind Is A Terrible Thing To Taste is. I've also got In Case You Didn't... on the way too.

Jim.

It was a nice change from the more 'nerdy' things they'd been doing. Definitely pleasantly surprised.
Nothing will beat Incunabula, Amber or Tri Repetae for me, though :)
