Too late in the thread for opinions, but have to nod at all points made. They turned to shit pretty quick, but had their moments, yes. Saw them at the old Ritz in NY on the Children tour and remember it being a pretty exciting show. Like a Hurricane is still a top cover, imho.

"time has really not been kind to it."

Sadly, no it hasn't. Lost of the Mish stuff has aged more like milk than like wine, especially with regards to Wayne's lyric-writing and the production. That all said, they did have their moments. Perhaps if they only released singles (instead of filler-choked albums), they'd have been looked upon now with more kindness.

I actually sprang for that five-CD live retrospective of their goodbye stint at the Shepherd's Bush Empire wherein they played a different album each night.

I've listened to it once.

For my money, the Mish were at their best when they were drunk off their ass and playing covers, but I'll never part with my copies of GOD'S OWN and THE FIRST CHAPTER.

Me neither – or all those damn / limited / numbered / autographed / 7”/10”/12” / box set singles they released….well….up to Tower of Strength, anyway

I listened to God’s own Medicine recently for the first time in ages and time has really not been kind to it.

I always preferred Fields of the Nephilim (and still do)
