Yes, KNAC played some good metal.

Speaking of scratchy, static-y, pirate-y sounding radio stations (at least
when hearing them from L.A.), anyone remember radio station KNAC? I could
only get it at night. Shame...

91X too I believe in San Diego was better at times than KROQ. We used to
be able to get it at times up here in LA if it was a good day.

KROQ is a different story (I even I know about it having lived in
Massachusetts my whole life). It is probably one of a handful of US commercial
stations that ever play any real music (Boston's WBCN was another).

I've also heard (in the very late 80s, i think) Follow The Leaders, and
Sanity on the radio (here in U.S.). Maybe Empire Song too. This was all back
when local station KroQ was playing this type of music. The only station,
at that.

Don't say "were"--the Buzzcocks are still together and touring.
Doubt they ever had a song or album that charted in the US (although
college radio certianly played them--especially the song "Radio 9"
KJ had the songs "Eighties", "LLB", "Millenium" and "Pandemonium" played
on the radio a little. Doubt any of their albums charted, except maybe
Nightime.

Oh, I forgot--the Decendents (are they from around LA too?). Kind of like
the US version of the Buzzcocks, with about 1/1000 the recognition and
record sales (I just read that
"Harmony in my Head" was on the UK charts).
