Jamie,

Did you go to the gig at Manchester International II in'89?  If so, do you remember the fight just before and as the Joke were coming on - looked like a couple of gangs having handbags at 30 paces, though one guy did look quite badly hurt.  First and only time I've seen a gang fight at a Joke gig.

ah yes!
lthough all I really remember of those was the overweight black guy on guitar 
n boots & really tight red pants.
a support I really enjoyed was from around the same time at the International II 
n Manchester but I can't for the life of me remember the name.
oth guitarists played Firebirds & the singer kept saying things like "Yeah, I 
now we're crap" which probably wasn't the best tactic.
Red Lorry Yellow Lorry were good.
The one I wish I'd seen was when the Chameleons supported them.
