I don't know if influencing Depchie Mode is really a compliment...

One confession (in addition to not worshipping the Damned) I have to make is, I never quite "got" Pink Flag (although I haven't listened too it much).

Strange, b/c it is supposed to be an influence on a lot of bands I like, such as Gang of Four and the Minutemen (well, I worship the latter).

Oh man, I remember that gig and wanted to go so bad -- but final exams stopped me. : (
You are spot-on about Wire, Lonestyle.

Cheers,

Karen

True. I think Wire never got the credit they deserved. Saw em' open for Depeche Mode in 88' @ the Rose Bowl and people were throwing shit at them! I was like WTF? If it wasn't for Wire there would be no DM!

"Ahead" and "The Ideal Copy" were the big college radio hits for Wire in '87, as you well know.
You know Wire -- they just had to bend the rules when it came to mainstream late-night shows. ; )

That is so fuckin odd! You know I didn't even know she had a late night tv show? It must of went off the air quick for I watched late night TV back then. And I don't remember that song being a hit on the radio? Not even on KXLU college radio.

"In the craziest TV appearance from 1986 . British Avant-Punk band Wire appear on a short lived late night talk show hosted by Suzanne Summers. Flash forward 24 years and Wire are still putting out great music but Summers is pimping product on late night infomercials."
