I am in total agreement Jamie, Strawberries for me, too.

I think the first time I saw them was at the Rainbow? So long ago it's fuzzy; I was well into double figures by the time Strawberries was released..

Strawberries, I'm afraid... long time ago. They've had some good moments since then, but nothing that's been great across the board. (For example, I really like Shadow of Love and a couple of other tracks, but overall Phantasmagoria is pretty weak.)

Actually, one of my fave Damned tracks is Is It A Dream, but the version that really does it for me is the Peel session, i.e. before Sensible left, rather than the album version, which sounds kind of flat.

Jamie... whose first gig was the Damned at Hammy Palais

What was the last release you liked by them Jamie?

It's just about 10 years since Grave Disorder. Everyone raved about it, so I decided I'd give them one last chance (they'd been shit every time I'd seen them for about 10 years by then), and went to see them in Camden.

Guess what, they were still shit. I was - wait for it - gravely disappointed.

Jamie
