I went to see Hooky last week on his spoken work tour thingy at the
Stables in milton keynes (I posted the flyer for it on here a few
weeks ago). It was basically Hooky and Howard Marks sat on a sofa on
stage chatting and answering questions from the audience. 

One of the questions was whether he had ever had anyone try to teach
him bass. He replied that various people had tried and failed, and
then went on to talk about the time he nearly joined KJ. He said he
was sat in a room with Geordie & Jaz and they were trying to get him
to just follow the guitar, but he couldnt do it and kept reverting to
his normal playing style. (His actual words were "I cant play this
shit"!!!). Anyway, he said Youth got to hear he was working with them,
got jealous and rejoined, which got him out of the hole!

Not a particularly interesting story, which was why I didnt bother
posting it before, but as Jon posted the Radcliffe interview I thought
it would fit.

He also told a very amusing story about punching Mick Hucknall. It was
worth going to just for that!
