That would be very strange and completely extraordinary. I could bet you didn't see anything on youtube! ;) HA! at least not this very version of "Adorations".

This girl named Zü was a complete mistery, and remains the same. I'm almost sure it's a solo project instead of a band, the very few pics that you can find on the internet are of a woman alone and the CD only included a couple of pics of her.
Well, by that time (1994) i was pretty active in the local rock scene with my old band, and new good bands rumors were often known from mouth to mouth among the already existing bands, but suddenly this girl was aired on the radio after releasing an album in a major record company (BMG if i remember well). No one knew where she came from, i never saw a flyer of a Zü gig before or after this release and -except for one song- the album was made of covers, most of them with original lyrics like this one.

And then Zü just disappeared. I guess daddy -after releasing rock music was not an easy big business- didn't want to spend more money on her darkie little girl.
The ex-wife lend the album and never returned back, but i guess it should have some musician credits. It's pretty hard to find the album now, i even spent years finding it on the internet. Luckily i did it, more for this cover than anything else.

On the other hand the band Zu you are talking about is not a Patton project, but an italian band which Patton has collaborated with. They were in Mexico city some months ago (with Patton). Pretty good wild technical stuff with a lot of improvisation. Like math-metal-rock meets free-jazz or something like that. Their albums are good only for strong ears as they may be too dense at some moments, but they are pretty good and enjoyable live.

There is a Mike Patton side project with Italian musicians also called "Zu"; i believe that was the one performing in Venice.

Anyway, i swear I've seen a live version of this "Adorations" cover from some TV show, but i thought it was Brazilian at the time. I may have seen it on Youtube, but can't find it now.

Anybody remember this?

Thanks for sharing this Adorations cover (quite unusual and good)

Is it the same group who played at the Venice airport festival this summer (2 days after we were there) ?

Wrong! it's not "Darkness Before Dawn" But don't feel bad, i didn't got it when i listen it for the first times, actually i realized it was a KJ cover after a good number of times of listening the whole album (my ex-wife used to listen to it quite often)... it was like "wait a minute... wait a minute... this is Killing Joke!... it's..."

Try it again ;)

Darkness Before Dawn, (or Sung Goes Dwon) right? It sounds really nice, in large part

cuz anyone who is that faithful to their Geordie guitar roots can't help but sound good.

It reminds me of Coldplay sounding like Joe Satriani - and then getting sued for it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UvB9Pj9Znsw

P.S. The video title kept me thinking

of a possible Phil Collins cover, "Zu-sui-cidio."

I posted this months (or years ago) but didn't received any commentaries about it = i guess almost no one checked it out >:P

Here it goes again. The girl was named Zü and the song was released in her only album in 1994. The lyrics are different from the original. The song is named "Suicide" (i guess this was clear to you).

If someone gives a damn i have it on mp3.

Saludos!
