I was in the studio (largely sitting on a couch, drinking beer & delivering slavishly unsolicited commentary) during portions of the recording of THE MAN ON THE BURNING TIGHTROPE. Specifically, I was in the studio during the painstaking tweaking of "Ponzi's Revenge" (I was there for the blink-&-you'll miss it Perez Pardo sample placement) and "Dark Days Indeed." This was at Tamir Muskat's Virbamonk studios, deep in the heart of backwater Brooklyn. It was fun to be a guest in the studio, but it was indeed a long ways a way from glamorous. Annoyingly, I didn't get a credit on that record, but I was thanked on the liner notes to THE GOLDEN HOUR (I believe I might have made it onto the notes for SONGS WE SHOULD HAVE WRITTEN, too.) Yay me.

Which Firewater, Alex? I'd love to hear about it.

"Oh relax" is not a command. It's merely a compassionate suggestion born out of the suspicion that someone is taking things a wee bit too seriously.

And for the record, I've been in a recording studio during the making of an album (notably Firewater), and yes -- recording sessions can be as dull as dishwater and rife with the inclusion of many dreary individuals (witness the fact that I was let in the room).

And, really now, are people genuinely concerned to see Geordie sitting down when he plays? Wouldn't *YOU* rather sit down while you played (especially if sequestered for hours on end in a cramped, airless studio with a handful of other people)? Angus Young of AC/DC evidently records all of his incendiary guitarwork while sitting down, and no one's accusing him of losing his edge.

Oh relax -- it was just a flippant observation. I'm sure they're fine, upstanding, sonically-atuned individuals, despite their sweatshirts.

Would it be any better if it were a bunch of bald small foreheaded paunchy

40 somethings with too many piercings, bad tribal tattoos and flea infested chin mullets?

Maybe the bespectacled college boys will help to feed a culture of intelligent melodies in the joke’s music as apposed to the cookie monster knuckleheaded-ness of the past few albums.

change is a constant dynamic with killing joke and frankly it is time for some variety in their music,

i will choose to practice optimism for the future of the joke.

Makes ya wonder: Who are those bespectacled college boys in there with them, and do they understand they're in the presence of gods?
