I have the Big Boys album w/"Narrow View" and "Which Way to Go"--two great punk songs. I also remember the Dicks being Marxists (Maoists maybe?). I lived in Houston in '81 and there was a great punk scene there (and saw the Joke, Circle Jerks, Husker Du, Pylon, Dead Kennedys, and many local bands all in one summer!!). TexASS had some good stuff back then!

The little man is a clown, I find it pathetic that people pay money and spend valuable time in their lives to witness anything he does.

Didn't see Danzig in person - me go outside? pshaw - but reading second
hand reviews has been funny, as in the Austin Chronicle.

You know how Texas has technically been having a drought year? All lake
levels, etc., are lower than average. Way lower. When Danzig took the
stage it began pouring. According to the Austin Chronicle, Danzig began
by saying something like, "I hear ya'll in Texas have been having a
drought this year. So I thought I'd bring you guys some rain." Thank
you, Glenn danzig!

Then he also dedicated his set to Randy "Biscuit" Turner. Turner was the
founder and singer of old Austin hardcore band Big Boys. He was openly,
flamingly gay, like so many of the singers and founders of the classic
80s Austin, TX, hardcore bands (The Dicks, MDC). Turner died a couple of
years ago from untreated stomach or pancreatic cancer IIRC - he just
ignored it, and it cost him. Anyway, one of Big Boys' songs was named
"Fun Fun Fun," so this annual fest is sort of named in Randy Biscuit
Turner's honor. Big Boys played happy, up tempo ska and also fast punk,
even some proto-funk, Red Hot Chili Peppers type stuff that in 1981 was
original and whose originality is hard to appreciate nowadays.

So here comes Danzig, swaggering on stage, all 5' 2" of him, a guy who
used to say "fag" and "that's gay" a lot in interviews when asked about
other bands. And he says his set is dedicated to "my friend Randy
Biscuit Turner." Turner was flaming. Pink scarves, flamboyant, etc.
Something about that was and is hilarious.

To top it all off: The last time Danzig played Austin was 1995, and
opening for him? Two bands called Korn and Marilyn Manson.

Danzig did not play any pre-1988 songs. But I also do not believe he
played anything off his absolutely awful 1996 "industrial metal"
_Blackacidevil_ LP, which has the immortal opening line, "GIRL I'M GONNA
MAKE YOU CUM!!!" One of the worst lyrics ever, and it starts the LP off.
