What's really amazing about TDT is that some of things they did to take the piss out of the way news programmes try to make themselves more exciting (wacky graphics etc) have become the norm.

The Day Today is my absolute favourite TV comedy series ever. Even now, the “WAR!!!” episode is too close to the truth to be entirely comfortable. Brass Eye a close second.

Aha (particularly A-HAAAAAA) is a catchphrase of Alan Part
ridge (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alan_Partridge ), who in a later series proved his utter wankiness by bonding with a salesman over their belief that the plural of Lexus is Lexi. Said salesman turned out to have a predilection for pampas grass, but that’s another matter entirely.
