[kj] OT-ish: New Manic Street Preachers album

Albini? I'm in.

My PVR records the honky-tonk man, but I've not watched the last few yet.
Will have a listen today.

If it's musically as described, and is free of the usual agonised Welsh
yodelling (it's the vocals that I don't like with the Manics), I could
really like it.

Thanks for the info.

Album "produced" by Albini - Saw them on Jools a couple of weeks ago.
Sounded pretty good and I'm not a fan at all.

Fuck me. That sounds like a recommendation tailored specifically to me. I'll
investigate it on the basis of that review, as Cameron is rarely unreliable.
If he has made me buy a recent Manics album under false pretences, however,
I will be cross.

Out of interest...

In the current issue of Mojo, Keith Cameron - a writer I usually trust
to speak sense - says the new Manics album has "echoes of Magazine, the
Banshees,
Killing Joke, the Skids.." and throws PiL and Jesus Lizard comparisons in
there also.
