[kj] OT: I want one

Machines will be made out of the same billion year old constituents of the
universe that we are, with the same freaky quantum properties, they'll
occupy the same space and time, and they'll help solve our problems. The
idea that they are inherently evil is bizarre, anthropomorphism. The
negative use of technology has only ever been perpetrated by humans, in any
real sense.

mind? or brain...?

human intelligence (oxymoron?), is a melding of body and spirit, something i
doubt can be easily replicated in a lab..

i wonder what the motivation is behind the funding for this kind of thing...
the scientists will do the work, wage slaves, but the 'product' being
developed will end up in some fat-cats arsenal of power... cnuts the lot of
them!

They are currently operating at less than the power of rodents I
think, but the processing power available to AI research has ballooned in
the last 10-15 years and is rising exponentially. So very shortly after
PCs attain our level of horsepoewr, they will surpass us. (Or a
combination of human / machine intelligence will). And there's every
chance that with quantum computing, that exponential rise will be
accellerated hugely.

Anyone venturing an opinion about the feasibility of AI matching the human
mind, in the negative, has been premature and probably misunderstood the
processing power equation. There's no chance of human-like intelligence
when you're limited to hardware as powerful as an insect's brain, let
alone the software problems. Both of which are being worked on and great
progress made.

Given the chance, machines will one day, quite possibly within our
lifetimes, far surpass us mentally. I'm looking forward to it, I still
haven't beaten fucking Rubicks cube.
