(damn I had to look up scamp: i'll take definition 2, please..)

Oh gawd no, please.. not here....  , naming 2 things in the same sentence never means automatically equating them, I hope (for example, "they love sex").
I was only applying/testing the "longevity of a given practice" criterion to some other equally long-lived practice to see if said criterion can by itself (as you used it) justify that practice also. So, forget child-sex/abuse, let's say, whaling... going (seal-)clubbing, umm....patriarchy and patriarchal lines of inheritance/succession.... 'end-times' prophecies and Great Flood theories, all also around since forever but in no way equal to gaiety because of it(then again, unless if Gaiety derives from Gaia in which case then all things are inherently and latently gay??????)  =:~o

So you are in a tres covert fashion (you scamp, you) equating being gay with child abuse and mutilation?  I am surprised you left out bestiality and rape, and killing of grandmas and pepaws.

Technically, 'gaiety' being around since forever doesn't make it either good or bad. Child sex abuse and mutilations have been around since forever too but no one would use that as a basis for propriety or even acceptability.
The wrongness of it's gotta be elsewhere. Must be cultural i think.

What I wanna know, is what do these people say when someone makes the obvious point that gays have been around since humans existed?  Does their deity make mistakes consistently to test them?  Is it a Loki god?

Poor guy, no one deserves that treatment. The only thing they

YouTube video shows church 'exorcism' of gay teenager

http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2009/jun/25/gay-exorcism-youtube-video

"An American church has been condemned over a video showing a 16-year-old boy apparently being exorcised by church leaders trying to cast a "homosexual demon" from his body.
The 20-minute video posted on YouTube shows the teenager lying on the floor, his body convulsing, as elders of a small Connecticut church shout "Rip it from his throat!" and "Come on, you homosexual demon! You homosexual spirit, we call you out right now! Loose your grip, Lucifer!"
Later, the teenager is seen coughing and apparently vomiting into a bag before lying on the ground, limp and covered in a white sheet.
Gay and youth advocates claim the film depicts abuse and are demanding an investigation. But a spokeswoman from Manifested Glory Ministries, which posted the video on YouTube, this week denied any wrongdoing.
"We believe a man should be with a woman and a woman should be with a man," the Rev Patricia McKinney told the Associated Press. "We have nothing against homosexuals. I just don't agree with their lifestyle."
McKinney denied the ritual was an exorcism, describing it instead as a casting out of spirits. She said the church took care of the youth, providing him with clothes.
"He was dressing like a woman and everything. And he didn't want to be like that," McKinney said.
The church has since removed the video from YouTube."
