Chris Kimsey produced "BTAS," as I recall. And yes, that album is KJ's attempt at "mainstream." A few really good tunes, but a little over the top.

Didn't Connie Plank produce BTATS & NT? It probably explains the very 'clean' sound.
They're a bit glossy and the bass treatment is a bit hit and miss (sometimes lacks gravity), but I still like them :D
KJ have always seemed to have issues on the bass front, when recording. Fire Dances is a bit thin, too.
