I'd suggest getting into Bauhaus through order of release.
In the flat field to burning from the inside. Although the latter is not my favourite, by a long shot. I think Mask and the sky's gone out are incredible, though. Maybe somewhat dated, or copied too much, now.
But Sade's right, you had to see them live :D

Glad you liked it. Exposure to BH triggers receptors, not antibodies.
They're a treasure to watch, also because they have a certain sense of theatricality that needs to be seen along with hearing them live.
Every tour I've seen them in, they improved exponentially from one tour to the next. Saw L&R say goodbye in '96 (never saw an acoustic 12-string kick so much ass live), first saw BH in '98, then in 2005 they never stopped improving.

Not sure if you've seen these.
The 1st 2 vids are per their live "Gotham" video
and how they opened their gigs during that tour.

Someone said to me a while ago that post-punk was the shittest imaginable
genre of music. Big Soundgarden / Sonic Youth etc fan, whose opinion I
would otherwise have given some credence.
Made me wonder, what were they referring to as post punk (I didn't ask).
What is the common element? Atonal dischordant fucking around with song
structure, instrument mix, weird time sigs, emaciated pouty navel-gazing
white kids bitching about the way other people dress and not having any
libido (okay I'm making this up)...?
Killing Joke doesn't seem to fit the moniker. And Bauhaus...I still
haven't heard the track that makes me "get it," for all the adoration on
the list. The stuff I've heard doesn't seem to have any grunt behind it.
The Cure I'm a big fan of, PIL as well, but I still don't really know what
post-punk means, is it a semi-useless term like punk or grunge?
