When the guitar starts playing in unison with the bass in Arabian Nights is
a time that my neck still does strange things.

McGeoch and Budgie together!

One of the most devastating combinations of musicians of the 80s!

And to think I learnt the guitar parts playing along to that video, they're
probably all played upside down. I think he's fucking great on it!

Apart from Fat Bob. He makes such a pig's ear of Happy House I can barely
listen to it.

Mate, if it's got the Rock Goes to College gig on it, it's going to be
bloody good ! Isn't Nocturne one of the best recorded gigs ever? Well, it's
one of mine anyway...

Was reading about the 7YearTwitch dvd last night - yep, universally panned,
except by the odd delusional sort.

She sings pretty darn good on the live stuff.

Absolutely spot-on - "why on earth did it get through?" is THE question.

Importance: High

Don't get me wrong -- I'm not defending her performance, just trying to
understand it. I'd certainly imagine that she'd listened to the material
before it was released on cd/dvd and heard for herself how ripe her ridicule
her vocals were.

I don't really see how the configuration of the band would make Siouxsie

she'd be so SO out that it's painful. No excuses man, I gave up after buying
that massively disappointing

dvd. If she couldn't hear herself, she mustn't have been able to hear
herself on every fuckin date, lol !

Glad I was too pissed/star-struck for it to spoil my night. I think I'll
have to sell the dvd, such is its'

unwatchable-ness.

Anyone want a dvd of Siouxsie honking like a fucking goose with the
Banshees? And before anyone

says it, I mean worse than usual !

I think the whole concept of 7 Year Itch was the back-to-basics approach.
Witness the fact that she didn't augment the line-up with a keyboard player,
a percussionist, a second guitarist, etc. It was just a four-piece with her
out front, just like in the (very) old days. That she sang flat or out of
tune wasn't so much by design, but rather just the "warts n' all" delivery."

For what it's worth, I saw her on that tour and it was as dreadful a
performance as the one captured on the disc.

I got a promo of 7 Year Itch and was so appalled by the flat singing I
didn't buy the album. Only Banshees album I haven't paid for. She's badly
out of tune on several studio tracks, but that's sometimes part of the
appeal. 7 Year Itch just sounded like she couldn't hear anything through
monitors; she's consistently a quarter-tone flat, rather than bellowing all
over the place.

Does she sing in tune on the live Mantaray stuff? I have that 7 year itch
dvd & it's un-fucking-listenable. Utterly, utterly disappointing. Luckily I
couldn't tell she was ridiculously out of tune when I saw them on that tour
in Sheffield. 'twas an awesome gig...

got mine this week too - I think its pretty decent value on Amazon already.
Particularly enjoyed the DVD - comparing the early footage to the latest
Mantaray DVD I can safely say Siouxsie has aged a lot better over the last
30 years than me...

It's a fantastic package.

It renders "Voices On The Air" obsolete, however, as it includes all the
Peel sessions. The quality is excellent, and the entire thing is only marred
by the usual pretentious wankery of Paul Morley's "essay" (sic) in the
booklet. The DVD is great too; I can now retire my DVD-from-TV of the Rock
Goes To College.

Recommended, particularly when it comes down in price a bit.
