No. Straight edge started with bands like SOA, Teen Idles, Minor
Threat, The Faith, Void etc. all from Washington D.C.'s Dischord
label, espousing a lifestyle of no drinking, no drugging and no
sexytime. Emo was birthed a few years later, largely credited to
another Dischord band, Rites of Spring (featuring Guy P., later of
Fugazi), so dubbed given the *strenuously earnest* nature of the
band's songs.
Positive Punk, I believe, was a Britishism coined to differentiate
between skinhead/oi bands who were purportedly violent and the post-
punk outfits (like Southern Death Cult) who weren't.
They're all pretty meaningless tags.
