[kj] OT: More good news

Yeah, that's what all my friends tell me. I dunno, I just can't get with it. The song I really hate off that album is Caralo Voador. That's like one of the worst songs by any band, seriously. The thing with that and any weak album put out by a once-awesome band is you have to ask yourself "Would I care about these songs completely based on their own merits or am I just listening to this because it's got the band-that-I-like's name on it?". King for a Day was one of the first albums to make me ask that shitty question. It's no fun to admit that the band you love is starting to suck. It's better than having to sit through Evidence or Star A.D. or Take This Bottle etc etc.

Appropos of nothing, y'know what track I absolutely adore? "Just a Man." When the choir comes in? Love that shit.

The Real Thing poops all over King for a Day and Album of the Year. Even the very best tracks off both albums can't hold a candle to Zombie Eaters, The Real Thing, The Morning After, Underwater Love....ugh!

Actually, this should explain everything:

KFAD and AOTY aren't as exceptional as Angel Dust, to be sure... But Jim Martin had almost no input on the album, so it's not because of his absence. Besides, all three of the albums that followed The Real Thing (which Martin had plenty of input on) are most definitely superior and more original too.

Jim.

No way, Jim was essential to the group. Or is it just a coincidence that the 2 albums they did without him are WAY worse than the ones they did with him?

An FNM reunion is the only thing that comes close to a KJ one in my estimation, so I'm extremely excited right now.

Jim Martin's not much of a loss, it must be said...
