[kj] OT: Bill Hicks

Don't ever remember saying I was bored. I was simply agreeing with Alex. He hit the nail on the head by comparing the Leary vs Hicks arguement to the Nirvana vs Killing Joke thing. 

Bill Hicks is fine, sometimes really funny. Completely overrated, of course. That'll happen when you die. His best moments were when he broke from his routine and berated his audience. His meltdowns were pretty intense. Probably a couple of them floating around on youtube. 

Leary's standup is pretty lame but as a comedic actor, he is aces. Rescue Me is a testament to this as well as Suicide Kings. The similarities between the himself and Bill Hicks are slight at best. Post the youtube clip where Leary quotes him verbatim and things might get interesting.

I'm not trying to be rude Leigh, my point is, I'm a big fan of Bill Hicks,
having a yarn with others on the list about him being ripped off by
Leary...so why piss on my chips? I could verbally roll my eyes about stuff
others are talking about, call it old news etc...but why bother? Do you
actually have a point, other than to share that it bores you? It bores me
even more to know that.
