[kj] Rebellion Review

I bumped into a friend I hadn't seen for a while the other night, a lad of
about 20, who was telling me about his experiences at various festivals over
the summer, including seeing killing joke at Sonisphere. When I asked him
what he thought of them, he said he thought they were musically great and
tight as hell but that the stage show was lame and boring, and I quote "if
I'd wanted to see a bunch of old men, I could have gone down the British
Legion!"

Bloody kids

Equally unfathomable was the comment from the friend of John's who told me
after the show she thought "KJ were boring, and the singer had no stage
presence"!! What did she know? Was she watching a different band to the rest
of us??? I thought Coleman had a glint in his eye and a fire for performing
that I hadn't seen for a long while...

Didn't see the burlesque, but isn't it generally thought to be a little more
humourous, stylish, tasteful and glamourous than your average striptease??

Hi Jane,

Goldblade were as good as ever.

I was totally and utterly sober at 9:30pm. But that would explain why I
can't remember anything after the show. Iain lead me astray? To be honest I
am known to go on to tequila, so it was probably my fault.

Best moments were KJ, 999, Goldblade and by Frank Sidebottom. The usual.

Oddest moment was discovering that a lad I know quite well was playing
guitar for Bay City Rollers.

Mosy annoying moment, walking into the ballroom to watch KJ as the crowd
from the Dickies were walking out. I bumped into a girl I half know who was
walking out. I pointed out she was going the wrong way, to which she replied
Killing Joke are a bag of sh*£. Not my thing I can take but bag of sh*£?

Anybody else see the Burlesue thingy? Is Burlesque just code for stripper
then?

Brian.

Forgot to say - it was good to see Jon, Chris, Brian, Lisa & Gary, Mick Head
and other KJ Fans/gatherers whose names have slipped out of my mind.
Apologies to those I've neglected to mention, Jane

Brian - how was the head Monday?? Lesley let it slip that you and Iain were
enjoying Tequila's (I think), during KJ, which could explain your transition
from coherent to otherwise over the 90 mins or so...

John was pretty much the first person I spoke to after KJ's set.... Both he
and Rob, (Goldblade's drummer), were somewhat impressed.

I concurred - the sound could have been better at times, but it was great to
see the band really enjoying themselves up there on stage, together with a
good vibe in the audience... and one or two decent songs to bop too ---- had
a great night!!

Jane

P.S.: I gather Goldblade also laid on a fantastic show earlier in the
weekend, but I was still in Canada at the time.
