I know, it’s a hackneyed term, I was using it sarcastically :-)

Spot on about the role of his fucking annoying wife. And I express my
annoyance here not at her, but at the way she’s being used to flesh him out
by association, and to detract attention from what’s going on with his
competency, his team and his decisions.

She wears bare arms. She’s well toned. She touched the Queen. She dresses in
chain-store clothes sometimes, which is a good choice for the times
for
fuck’s sake, I thought we got over that shit in the 50s.

Could we just do a sex tape with the Obamas and Sarkozys getting it on, the
Queen running the show with a whip and a chair in S&M get-up, get it out of
our systems, and get on with running the fucking free world?

Dear Me (har):
Did you read my line that addressed Obama?

"Believe me, I would have thrown 'em out the first day (tax cuts), and I do
not think Obama is the greatest hope for humanity."

Those tax breaks that will expire are going to assist the coffers.
Minimally? Dunno.

Yes, you can write a laundry list of all the ways Obama is behaving like an
American President, not Eugene Debs.

As Jazzy says, when the stable is owned by the same interests, yet the two
horses are supposed to be competition, it is a farce (paraphrase, of
course).

I laughed with recognition at the Guardian's view of Obama during his recent
trip across the pond, which was something to the effect of "everyone know
Obama has some difficulty exuding compassion, so his wife Michelle is an
excellent ambassador". That statement alone would never be printed in the
US, or be given alot of attention.

Obama is "same as it ever was", a jingoist with more melanin. To be the US
President means you have to play by certain rules. I just prefer to watch
him play than watch the last president get so drunk he choked on a pretzel.

Let's see...

Rendition:
http://www.latimes.com/news/la-na-rendition1-2009feb01,0,7548176,full.story
---snip---
Under executive orders issued by Obama recently, the CIA still has authority
to carry out what are known as renditions, secret abductions and transfers
of prisoners to countries that cooperate with the United States.
---snip---

Wire Tapping: (Also take into account the outrage when Bush started this)
http://www.eff.org/deeplinks/2009/04/obama-doj-worse-than-bush
---snip---
It's an especially disappointing argument to hear from the Obama
Administration. As a candidate, Senator Obama lamented that the Bush
Administration "invoked a legal tool known as the 'state secrets' privilege
more than any other previous administration to get cases thrown out of civil
court." He was right then, and we're dismayed that he and his team seem to
have forgotten.

Sad as that is, it's the Department Of Justice's (read my comment below
about the Justice Dept. and who it's being filled with) second argument that
is the most pernicious. The DOJ claims that the U.S. Government is
completely immune from litigation for illegal spying — that the Government
can never be sued for surveillance that violates federal privacy statutes.
---snip---

Guantanamo? Nahhh. We got Bagram!:
http://www.nytimes.com/2009/04/13/opinion/13mon1.html?ref=opinion
---snip---
The Obama administration is basking in praise for its welcome commitment to
shut down the American detention center at Guantánamo Bay. But it is acting
far less nobly when it comes to prisoners held at a larger, more secretive
military detention facility at Bagram Air Base in Afghanistan.
---snip---
http://www.foxnews.com/politics/first100days/2009/04/16/liberals-angered-oba
mas-opposition-judicial-review-bagram-detainees/
---snip---
In an editorial this week, The New York Times claimed Bagram is "the next
Guantanamo" and accused the Obama administration of recycling "extravagant
claims of executive power."

That's because the Obama White House has sided with the Bush administration
in its belief that the Bagram detainees, who are in a war zone, have no
right to a court review despite a ruling last year by the Supreme Court
granting Guantanamo detainees those rights.

The Justice Department argues that Bagram is different from Guantanamo
because it is in an overseas war zone and the prisoners there are being held
as part of an ongoing military action. The government argues that releasing
enemy combatants into the Afghan war zone, or even diverting U.S. personnel
there to consider their legal cases, could threaten security.

ne-file-sharing-case/

Now, if you look at the arguments that RIAA lawyers put forth in court,
trust me, there is NO privacy.
Not to mention many other arguments that I won't list now as this one is
enough.

Taxes:
Bette, Considering the amount of unsustainable spending that the Obama
administration is planning, it
is just about impossible that it can be done with raising taxes all over the
place. This 95% tax cut is gonna
be VERY short lived.

Tea Party Riot:
Oliver, there were no riots, it was actually quite peaceful. No burning
objects thrown at people, no breaking windows
no flipping cars. I'd call that a protest, not a riot. It seems that they
behaved far better than most of the "other" protests
I've seen over the past decade (or more).

Cheers,
Me

I just wanted to point out that President Obama said he would not renew the
tax cuts that the Bush Administration gave to the top 1%. He is simply
going to let them expire (2010, I believe). He has been consistent with
this statement throughout his campaign and presidency. Believe me, I would
have thrown 'em out the first day, and I do not think Obama is the greatest
hope for humanity. However, letting them expire shows he is addressing the
issue in a way that will cause the least amount of chaos. He must be a good
Chess player.
