Yes, Darren: Those bloody Colonists are taking their revenge, yet again! (insert sinister laugh here ...)

And my original distinction also featured just a little bit of my being a git, too.

These Americanisations are becoming endemic, actually. I've just bought my eldest daughter address for her fucking PROM! Doubtless at her HIGH SCHOOL.

I shall show her Carrie before she goes.

It's not a value statement, it's just that we've always called them films over here & so until I start referring to my Ford Focus as my Caddy, you as my Ho & Eddie Murphy as really funny, I'd prefer to carry on using the word Film is all. Y'all.

That's like saying "we're talking about MUSIC not PUNK"

Different emphasis. I'm a huge fan of pulp fiction, comics, books, movies, I could care less how high brow something is.

I'd prefer to watch Trailer Park Boys, Southpark, Simpsons, Family Guy over I dunno, no idea what even passes for high brow television these days.
Big Lebloski is my favourite FILM. Dude.
Michael Moorcock / Robert E Howard over Tolkien.

Dunno. Time and place for everything, I can read / watch weighty stuff, I've just done it to death and I appreciate the aesthetic / vibe / whatever of pulp anything.

PS: Event Horizon is a decent horror in my book, until the ending. If I feel immersed and entertained by something it really doesn't matter what a critic thinks of it. Another movie I rate is Crank.critics were pretty mild but I thought it was brilliant.
