I've always thought Metal makes ya point the gun to the sky and fire just
for laughs and post-/punk makes you point it at whoever keeps fucking with
you and Goth music [cue "What really is Goth music" thread] makes ya point the gun at yerself

At the time I was tall, skinny, wore black all the time, bit of a loner, and
got (little) enough pussy to qualify as a goth ;) I was into metal, which to
me is a more positive avenue for disaffectation than mopey goth.

1994, when The Crow came out, totally opened me up musically

Pandemonium
Superunknown
Shihad's Killjoy
Tool Undertow (I was a bit late)
AIC Dirt (again late)
Mixed Up The Cure - my intro to them other than the radio
MSP Holy Bible

(plus more iffy choices like Siamese Dream, Throwing Copper). And Mixed up
by The Cure which I still love cos it introduced me to them.

You mean you grew out of being a goth teen?

Seriously, Alex Proyas has made worse stinkers (I Robot, for instance,
pure atrocity). Dark City was amazing but that's about where it starts
and ends.
