Okay anyone care to do an origins of metal debate a la origins of punk?

I read somewhere that some consider Sunshine of Your Love to be one of the
first HEAVY METAL songs...opinions?

Anyway I'm off to bed so gimme some good rants to wake up to :)

Think you have a good point about heavy rock/metal band players. I'm not an 
Iron Maiden fan by any stretch, but some of their solos are downright 
classical in their structure -- so that impresses total naif such as myself.
