ipat""""Bow wow wow, well you didnt take it seriously did you? c'mon, look
what was happening with the likes of crass, the joke and so much more.

Ive said it b4 here in that i was never a Death Cult fan as it was self
obsessed ego driven pop like U2. We were heading towards revolution with the
strikes, the cities in flames and beanfield ambushes that this corporate
rock chic was effectively middle class shite. : )""""

Wait, you are saying killing joke isn't self obsessed ego driven?! I’d put
jaz’s ego up against bono’s any day. do you doubt that if killing joke had
hit as high on the charts with “eighties”, “love like blood”, or “me or you”
as, “with or without you” did for U2, that jaz’s mainstream exploits
wouldn’t top little king of Ireland bono? Sorry, jaz’s ego would win every
time!! jaz has on many occasion had his head just as deeply entrenched up
his own colon as bono, phil collins, or stingy boy. In fact it may
ultimately prove that jaz’s ego is what usurped his ideals. All the wine,
cigars, and praise seeking pseudo

Linguistic constructs have wisped the wind from his revolutionary sails like
a clear blue morning in obscure jolly ‘ole POPland.

I think you take killing joke way too seriously, as well crass, or any ill
feed brain playing instruments even feederz for that matter. after all the
youthful cliché attempts to catalyze revolution with simple little ditties
and costumes, it all boils down to kids in dress up, acting out there
fantasies.

As the kids age, their revolution becomes a parody for sloppy old men and
women to wallow in until nature finally claims the tired beast that couldn’t
find a better way to create his or her ultimate goal - unrealized fantasies
and youthful aspirations meet the reality & the limit to angst-full
revolutionary art’s potential in this current human paradigm.

Given all that, other than mind bogglingly good and influential music, one
can’t truly say that jaz has accomplished any tangible revolution or change
in comparison to his pop colleagues, bono, sting, or many of those types (
however self aggrandizing their efforts may be) have dedicated much effort
to helping create a better existence for other people and species on this
planet in large numbers. Whether that is all possible because of their pop
success and jaz may have been able to accomplish similar tasks given killing
joke had the same success, we will never know.

Now then, shall we all meet in India with jaz for a soul’s path realignment?

i guess its subjective

for me, especially at the time, the meteors - and there were others -

were the real deal in that genre whereas the stray cats were simply a

SAW type product (Stock Aitken and Waterman). I doubt a fist was ever

thrown in anger at one of their gigs

well maybe not as bad with “guaranteed riots” I suppose you would be
correct, but check this out it got a little crazy – some aggression here @
the 1:10 min mark - from 1981 rockpalast:

whereas the others would be

guaranteed riots.

I see your point the meteors play more frantic style of music. But I guess
it is subjective, I find the meteors to be a cartoon (lyrically and
visually) just like the stray cats, only they don’t play their instruments
with half the tact. But I would not consider the meteors’ inability to play
their instruments, nor the amounts of fat lips in their audience as a
measure of validation to their ‘realness’.

Note the opening band for killing joke couldn’t play a lick! and many of us
in the audience were becoming agitated to a point of near violence but that
warm-up band were not more “real deal” than killing joke.
