[kj] London Calling?

I was writing a review on the train back to Reading, but my iPhone ate
it.

You know, that might just have been the best KJ gig I've seen in 28
years. Geordie was too quiet from where I was, but that only
highlighted what a killer rhythm section is in place, and how
fundamental the rhythm section is to the Joke. I liked Benny's
contributions, but BPF is unmatchable. It feels disloyal to Raven, but
Youth (despite his Monserrat Captain Sensible White safari suit ((when
was he wearing that stupid poncho arrangement? Was that the Astoria
Pandemonium with the masks? He has an odd approach to stagewear))) is
so perfect for these dates. His enthusiasm borders on the
hysterical, and he has finally made me get "Madness". I'd forgotten
what a devastating song "Exit" is, and "The Wait" was absolutely
terrifying! BPF on his spotlit drum riser appeared to transform the
band into a juggernaut capable of moving out into the audience with
drills, spikes and blades. Jaz looks so trim in his new tight boiler
suit he could wear a Smurf hat and he'd look identical to the
Democracy troll.

Eighties roared. LLB was moving (with the addition of an ill-conceived
stage right appearance...) and Reza should really stop playing that
horrible cheesy racket in the pre-chorus bridge in "Are You
Receiving". I'll admit to getting emotional during "Butcher" and
"Unspeakable", but "Who Told You How" was the biggest surprise to me.

I loved the projections too, especially the ones not recycled from the
25th Anniversary" gigs.

Great, great gig. Wish I hadn't opted to have the CDs posted, as I
wanted to listen to the whole set on the way home...

...or could have done if some THIEVING BASTARDS hadn't fucking
massacred my car in Reading while I was at the gig! Only just got off
the phone to every police staton, bank and insurer in the country
sorting it out. Moral is don't leave your wallet in your car ever even
if it's hidden under the spare wheel in the bottom of the boot when
the car's parked in what purported to be a patrolled (not really) and
CCTV (not yet, it seems) 24 hour car park. Now when I get the CD, I'll
be wondering during which song some BASTARD was smashing THREE windows
and helping himself to my stereo.

Still, tomorrow's gig should cheer me up again. Fucking downer after
such an exceptional high.

Which pub tomorrow?
