Birmingham. So much to answer for! Yeah, it's a fascinating family tree
jobby, in which KJ loom large as an influence.
I prefer the first side with the magic line-up. It's quite odd to hear
Broadrick play fast when I'm so used to him chugging. A real eye-opener
when you find out what those guys went on to do. STREETCLEANER should be
given to people at birth.
Have you heard the early ND demos, such as Hatred Surge? Nasty crust/post-
punk/KJ inspired noiseyness. There's one track that's *desperate* to be KJ.

Scum is so amazing. It's incredible what most of former members from that era went on to do, respectively. Mick Harris, Nick Bullen, Justin Broadrick, Lee Dorrian, Bill Steer....that's quite a track record.

LOL - stop it!
That Lynch film is, erm, fine if you have the book to hand! Sting inevitably
makes my skin crawl - classic case of pointless 'star' casting moment. I got
a copy of Dune simply because I wasn't quite sure what was going on in the
film, but it piqued my interest. Then became obsessed. Got all the Herbert
books I know of.
I tend to be into the cream of each crop, so what little sci-fi I *do* like
tends to be toppest in that genre. I'm also big on influences - who started
what, etc. It becomes like some sort of investigative learning fest until I
get bored. I recently got into Napalm Death & listened to them non-stop (I
mean that) for about 6 months. Yes, mental !

Oh God. Any Star Wars or ST-TNG fans on the list too?!?
Actually, I rate the first Dune, although I like the National Lampoon
piss-take more - Paul has to complete a Rubiks Cube at the beginning. As a
Lynch fan, I even sort of like the film, although Sting's Flying-V
underpants take some getting used to.

Yeah, Shaitan, Shai Hulud, The Maker, etc, etc. Shit man, dunno why I
was so *sure* about that then. I think it's the Fremen pronounciation
of Jihad that has a 'sh' at the start. I'm literally embarrassed I got
it wrong!!!
Went through all six again a few years ago - amazing how a decade can
change you enough that you see totally different things in the books.
When I was 17 I was more interested in the hero-dom of Paul, whereas
my most recent read of them had me focusing on the whole philosophical
journey that Herbert was on whilst writing them.
There's a lot to learn from those books !
