[kj] FW: OT : The Missing Album etc

I wouldn't cut my nose off to spite my face, regards the music, but it is indeed all about HOW you go
about it. This list has never really been appreciative of OTT self-promotion full-stop. I like being able
to post links to my latest efforts very occasionally, as there's a little community of musician-types on
here. Who would not want to hear the latest Lycopaedia track? But in-your-face-selling... well...

Anyway, I like all the newer posters on here - they're not part of the clique. I hardly ever even got a
thankyou for hosting gigabytes of KJ bootlegs on mr-pants, whereas the newer members actually show
appreciation. Makes a nice change.

Hello folks,

Just back from self imposed lurkdom ... I suppose that Paul Jones may still be subscribed ... I can't say that I enjoyed the recent spat, but I can understand why folks got upset with the Manic Machine Products postings ... it's a varied community here & newbies are welcomed with open arms (hence some of the most active posters Brendan, Lennonka, Oliver, Melinda are all relatively new to this forum but are all respected for their contributions irrespective of their varied length of Killing Joke service) ... there is though a netiquette that exists in most places (especially on the handful of aviation lists I subscribe to) where people need to contribute before they put requests for information up, therefore I think Paul's approach was just plain wrong this time around. If had he re-introduced himself in a similar way to when this CD originally came out some 3 years ago, I am sure nobody would take offence at the selling angle (we all have to make a living) but I have seen a similar spamming approach on Myspace where some folks just keep putting multiple posts on their bulletin boards & all it serves to do is wind people up. If folks are genuinely interested, a single post will do ... the Red Beat compiliation CD album is great stuff ... I can understand why some here may now give it a miss but it contains the Malicious Damage 12" (MD4.40) so give it a thought ...

Regards, Antoni
