Wherever they have it, I plan on taking a few days off to attend. Would be a good opportunity for a meetup for some pre show pints.

The Avalon aka The Palace and The Hollywood Palladium are within a quarter 
mile of each other on Hollywood and Vine and on Sunset Blvd respectively. 
The Music Box is almost directly across the street from the Palladium on 
Sunset.  Most of the other clubs like The Key Club, The Roxy and The House 
of Blues are 2-3 miles further northwest on Sunset where Sunset starts 
becoming winding and more set against the Hollywood hills.

The Wiltern Theater is about 3 miles north of downtown LA on the corner of 
Wilshire and Western.

If you're looking to spend a few hours shopping, check out Amoeba Records on 
Sunset Blvd. Best record/cd/video store in LA:

Great place to browse for rare stuff, but a bit pricey.

If you're looking to spend a night drinking, there's plenty of seedy clubs
