There are a lot of stone cold misanthropes in the hardcore animal rights 
movement.

A good example is Brigitte Bardot. She admits, now that she is an old 
bat with the cackle of a bona fide witch, and is married to a hardline 
nationalist French right winger, that she hates humans -- but LERRVS 
animals. Hence her simultaneous militant support of animal rights but 
hatred of gays, the homeless, interracial children, foreigners, etc.

Her A&E Biography special had an interview where she must have said 4 or 
5 times how much she hates humans. Of course, I see that sentiment here 
on this list a lot, too, i.e. "I was once naive and youthful, and 
believed humans could live cooperatively -- but now I am mature and have 
grown up and realize that humans are just gonna fuck each other over, so 
we might as well fatalistically kick back and let it all happen." That's 
basically a misanthropic position that says "Fuck people."
