I don't know anything about the validity of the story however it sort of reminds me of PETA a bit.

They go chasing people and shelters. Preach about animal cruelty then kill off thousands of
animals that were given to them or gathered. (Though I do belive that some of the slaughter 
houses ought to be shutdown, they are down right brutal and disgusting.)
