No cynicism intended. I go with a lot of what you are saying. I unfortunately went and studied a lot of this stuff.  I also used to post effective essays on the subject on boards etc. but found that most of the time people give up after the first 2 lines, lol.
I am very familiar with Fiske, Chomsky, Pilger et al.
The guardian only picked up the facebook story as they, like most of the media, have an insatiable desire for moral panic.
