Besides, a fair number of German companies who collaborated with the Nazi government (like Hugo Boss) were penalized heavily after the war, and it took decades for some of them to complete repayments and regain their status.

Oliver seemed to be suggesting that any Company that had any dealings with the Nazi regime in the 1930's, must therefore have Nazi Sympathies today , which is pretty much like saying that ALL Germans (in 2008)are Nazi's .
Quite absurd

Bloody hell Pete. You’ve posted something I agree with! I suppose the issue is not the unalterable dubious history of a company, rather the ill-considered desire to cover up that dubious history. I think the only position that is ethically justifiable is to be completely open about historical corporate alliances, as the alternative is to live in constant fear of some intrepid journo making a meal out of your circumspection.

www.ibmandtheholocaust.com is a good resource relating to a fascinating, albeit biased to “God Delusion” proportions, book.

Also Volkswagen, Bunn, Siemens, Bayer are all German companies and of course they would have been involved with the German Government of the time . If Hitler would have phoned up the President of Volkswagen and put an order in for a few trains.....do you honestly think that President of Volkswagen would have replied " Well Adolf, before I agree to sell you some Trains, do you mind me asking what you are going to use them for" .
Why is it important anyway ? Are you trying to suggest that the Companies that you mentioned have Nazi connections in 2008? Just because Volkswagen worked for the Naziz, that doesn't mean that the company had anything to do with the regimes policies in the 1930's let alone having anything to do with Nazi's in 2008.
