I just love how U.S.' efforts overseas use the UN/"International Community"
like a big phrophylactic so it won't catch anything - as if conscience or guilt-shame
were some kind of disease...

I suppose we’re all assuming the States would be going it alone, if they DID actually have proper support of their allies, in the UK, Western Europe, Canada, Aussie, NZ, Israel, that’s perhaps a bit of a different story. I do think a lot of the rest of the world is shitting it that Iran ever gets hold of nuclear weapons, for all that the ‘States can’t really afford another war, they also can’t really afford to conscience the chance that the Iranians get hold of nuclear technology, not with what they have said about Israel. Hrm…maybe the best bet is to get in there and give them a huge hand with nuclear power generation, but watch it like a hawk? Dunno.

I have no doubt that they would invade Iran if they wanted to. But that isn't going to make another 250,000 US soldiers (at least) materialize out of thin air. They're certainly well-placed to invade Iran , but the moment they do, full-scale insurgencies will appear in both Iraq and Afghanistan . They can't even deal with the problems in Iraq at the moment- where the hell would they get the manpower to fight three wars at the same time?

I'm sure Bush and his cronies would love to get their hands on lots more cheap oil, but right now another full-scale military conflict would cripple the US .

they have already shown what the will do for there precious oil  look at whats happening just cause the price has gone up if you look at a map you will see that iran is bordered by both afghanistan and iraq they have  already just about got it surrounded  they can go whenever they want they just need a big enough reason thats the only problem  they need an excuse maybe another 911 type attack  blamed on iran a small nuke or dirty bomb let off on american soil would do the trick
