The argument about this has gone on as long as I can remember on the gathering (and I've been here on and off a long long time) and it always seems to be agreed that it would spoil the gathering to stop these short chat type emails. It's part of what makes it almost unique among email lists and why I keep coming back.

I agree Mik.  Whereas I can see where you're coming from, Oliver, the small quips are often the ones that forge friendships and add texture, humour and life to the group.  Indeed I don't always have time to read the lengthier (but equally important) posts, I'm primarily here to socialise with likeminded twunts.
