Christ, totally - you're not going to listen to something because you 'should', but because you want to! BUT.. if something that's marketed for the charts moves me, my snobbery glands will often kick in & war with the fact that I like it. Pretentious moment: what moves you has fuck all to do with principles, etc.

Yeah but in our case you could easily argue that you / we are more discerning and more easily able to spot an unartisitc endeavour created purely to target or create a particular market to milk money from…however having said that I know that my own musical snobbery extends beyond that. There’s genuine artists who aren’t market whores that I still can’t stand and would put down…

I think snobbery is a natural human function, probably to do with pack behaviour, but it still stinks. Nevertheless, I *am* a musical snob!

You're totally right Lenny, but it's VERY easy to jump to the conclusion that aforementioned initials NME relate to that shitty little UK music rag with a bad attitude, what with Jaz being a UK musician & that rag having attacked lots of bands over the years.

 

Get on the wrong side of those shitbags & they would do their best to fuck your career, at least doing their best to rubbish you to their snobbish audience.
