[kj] OT The Dark Knight - Killing Joke looking shirts?

Darling Bette:

No worries, mate! You made a good point, originally. And I detected no idiocy whatsoever in your statements! I'd never diss your home slice, girl! ; )
James Dean is an icon, for damn good reason. Ledger someday will be, as well. Like Dean, he had "It." -- but in a very different way.
Again, there is was, is and always will only one James Dean. Like Elvis, Marylin, Bogart, etc -- he is often imitated, never duplicated!

Ciao from the Left Coast,

k.w.

Karen,
I missed the boat with my response. I thought you were imply that Ledger had something up on James Dean. James Dean was the first poster I ever bought to adorn my teenage room, the first person I did massive research on for school, so I was thinking with my widdle adolescent fangirl mind (that we never really lose) that you were dissing on my home slice..LOL. Sorry for acting like an idiot, it sometimes can be habit forming but I am trying to break it :)
xo
Bette

Appreciate your points, Bette -- but I still think there is only one James Dean, despite the similarities. (And yes, I'm aware that some of Ledger's films were not exactly the greates.)
Your 2 cents is worth a lot! : )

Keep on trucking,

k.w.

I don't know why it is to Ledger's credit that he made more movies.....James Dean was younger when he died. Also, quantity does not equal quality. However, Ledger had that special quality where one was taken aback by his presence on screen and he filled it up.......like James Dean.
So, even in a shite movie like "Monster's Ball"....he deserved the Oscar and the movie died with his death on film.
I don't think the comparison is trite at all. They had more in common than I want to list right now.

My 2 cents,
Bette

That is true and it is a sad loss and a hell of a talent. The Tery Gilman film I believe Johnny Depp signed up for it.

Ledger, to his credit, made far more movies than Dean did. I think the comparison is trite and overblown. But Ledger was a phenomenol talent, and it's a shame we won't be able to enjoy any future performances (other than the unfinished Terry Gilliam film -- not sure what they'll do with that.)

I now what you are saying mate. In a sense it is like they are making him into some kind of James Dean legend already considering it's his last movie role. I have read 3 reviews of the movie... Time magazine, LA Times, and The LA Weekly and they all say it is great. All of them pretty much sum it up to say his performance is pretty disturbing in that anarchist way and haunting. We are going to see it today and I will let you all know what we thought. I am sure it will blow us away in a literal sense. ;)

Don't mean to diss Ledger, but all this press he is getting for his role
as the Joker...well, I'm gonna go see it I suppose and I'm open to being
proven wrong, but to me he looks about as scary as Robert Smith on a bad
hair day.

Just my 2c (although that brings my Opinionation balance up to $13 059
