I did try for a while to cultivate respect based on my admiration of people
who stick to their principles - I am especially intolerant of hypocrites.
The problem with that approach is that it is impossible to overlook the fact
that the principles in question fly in the face of: a) common sense; b)
common decency; and c) the necessary dose of sanity to enable one to
function in normal society without attracting villagers wielding burning
faggots.
