just stirring the pot this argument has been done to death

but in defense of link wray: he didn't have a mohawk or studs, instead
he had one lung (hence the lack of lyrics), a leather jacket minus the
studs and one seriously nasty guitar technique! but his instrumentals
cast far more punk attitude and atmosphere than an albums worth of 70's
punk.

and no punk player worth a rats left nad would tell you he isn't punk...


anyone offering an opinion about punk whether - who, what, where, when,
how so - and hasn't ever picked up an instrument, jumped on stage, taken
a steamy gob or two hocked at 'em from the mindless masses, and
proceeded to win'em over - has no value to their opinion.

they have a right to their opinion ( to flush it that is ) but no value

that said:
in general
the best 70's punk came from the UK
the best 80's ( hardcore) punk came from the USA
the best post punk from the UK
