It *is* a very good homage. Maybe they're hoping no one will notice ;)

Then I beg to differ, it is clear that Transmission have either directly sampled the start of the FULL version of A Forest as off Seventeen Seconds and added echo/reverb into the mix, or blatantly used the same notes with a similar sound, as Nirvana did with Come as You Are (Although they did try to disguise it by changing the tempo, whereas Transmission haven't.)

Regardless of them calling the track "Glade" doesn't make any difference, If Robert Smith was aware of this song and the lack of credits I think that The Cure would have a valid case to sue should they wish too. Use someone elses sound then you should credit....look at the whole mess with Bittersweet Symphony and The Verve/Rolling Stones for example.

Anyone elses thoughts on it? Its a fantastic homage regardless, but not crediting it I think its risky grounds.

Don't punk out of your argument just because you're afraid of a little dissent. This is a discussion forum, not a bully pulpit. Everyone's allowed their say. But each should also be prepared for others to beg to differ.

And actually it is a Come As You Are/Eighties discrepancy, the keyboards at the beginning are identical to A Forest, same notes, same sound, same tempo even.

Massive Attack acknowledged their sample of 10:15 Saturday Night on Mezzanine, no reason why Transmission couldn't have done the same same and credited Smith/Tolhurst/Gallup in the sleeve notes!

Ok back to my cave I guess better than to voice opinion on this forum.....

I'm just suggesting that calling it a "rip off" is a bit crass and alarmist. I doubt the Cure are particularly bothered about whether the track is credited to them or not. I mean, the damn track is called "Glade" (i.e. an open space in a forrest). It's clearly a reference and/or homage to the Cure track.

This isn't a "Come As You Are"/"Eighties" sort of discrepancy at all.

I love Transmissions album, and I love The Cure too, if it was a homage then why not state so? They were not trying to convince anyone that the track WASNT their own either?!?!, so maybe if you don't like to chose the words "rip off" then its "unreported homage"

Has either Big Paul or Youth ever throughout any interviews stated they are Cure fans?

I wouldn't call it a "rip off" so much as an obvious homage. There's NO MISSING that it's based on "A Forrest." A rip-off would imply that they were trying to convince people that the track was their own.

Tried listening to anything by Transmission? That is Youth and Big Paul, sounds like a more ambient version of The Cure especially songs like Star Stella and Glade (A very close Cure's A forest instrumental rip off)

Anyone know what kind of music he has been making recently?
Is he still into Goan trance and techno and all that or has his tastes changed /
I was wondering what direction the new impending KJ album will take because the Yyouth influence on the Pandemonium Album is all to apparent
