[kj] OT: Angry music

Curiously enough, I was never terribly fond of the Death Cult/'Dreamtime' era- there was some good material there, but I never rated the music as highly as Southern Death Cult or 'Love' and 'Sonic Temple'. I rarely listen to 'Electric' any more, and never 'Ceremony' or the later albums. They really lost it post-'Sonic Temple', but prior to that they were a constantly evolving, consistently interesting rock band. 'Ceremony' was the first album that wasn't a departure from its predecessor- SDC, 'Dreamtime', 'Love', 'Electric' and 'Sonic Temple' all showed the band moving on and exploring new ideas. A decent part of Brit rock/goth history.

And, yes, I like The Cult, but particularly the early stuff, which was when they were a proper band, before rock stardom & AC/DC rip-offs. 1983's Live at the Lyceum is yet another all-time classic live gig.
