No, not at all - to think there's a fix-all magic wand is unrealistic. EVERYTHING has its pro & cons, surely? So, I'm not saying something better couldn't be implemented, but that each thing brings its good & bad.
So no, not at all defeatist! I think we just have to work within the framework we have, though I also REGULARLY feel like gunning the fucking government down - death to the them all.
It's complicated ;)
