I'm definitely guilty of being pessimistic when it comes to shit like this - totally agree with you Mel - don't wish to shoot you down, but I guess I can come across like that.

Well, as I said, it was a Sly Stone cover. I don't mean to keep on, but as a fan of both Perry & Ice T, I never considered it to be anything more than a cover/statement. Any nastiness on-stage, is clearly part of the statement, of how fucking pointless racism is. 'Cos we're all pink inside!!! It's a GOOD THING from Sly Stone to point out that calling someone whitey is just the same as calling someone nigger. Now we're talking. I find modern UK PC society seems to think it's ok for any sort of ethnic group to have a dig at the majority UK population because, well it's White Guilt, isn't it. Fucking double-standards rubbish.

Racism ain't EVER going away. It's far more complex in that it's not even about race, the colour of someone's skin is merely an indicator that kicks off a set pattern of thoughts, prejudices, in a persons' mind. We all have it built-in, some have to supress it, as they were brought up in racist environments, whereas some find it easier to supress it, due to different learnt behaviours. Coming from a shitty council estate, I was brought up with talk about pakis, etc, etc, around me. YAWN. Aren't parents supposed to be our examples? ;) Ignorance is the norm, if not something to be proud of in those places. I can honestly say I've heard people use the phrase "Strong in arm, thick in head" - now that's something to be proud of!!! Soooo.........

..........in cultures where little thought is encouraged, racism will be rife, as it's easier to blame EVERYTHING on the easy option, typically being 'foreigners'. I figured that bollocks out by the time I was 8, ffs.

Anyway, rant over ;)
