Morello's the radical intellectual backbone of the band, imo.

Not that the others in RATM don't share the same politics, roughly, but 
Morello has always come across to me as a voracious reader, thinker, and 
intellectual who also just so happens to also know how to play a guitar, 
and decided to use that vehicle, instead of scholarly treatises in 
leftist publications, to get his point(s) across. Saying this takes 
nothing away from his musical accomplishments. I wish I could play 
guitar as good as him!
