[kj] (OT) stereo issues...

Next time buy separates ;)..amps and speakers always have balance issues.
The stereo you have probably has an 'enhanced' bass gimmick on it, companies sometimes do this as without it bass can often drop out of the mix, bass waves move slowly and generally need kick, i.e. a slightly higher db rate.
Does your unit have an EQ, which you should set flat, or anything that hints at 'megabass' or some other silly acronym like DBB or whatever, if so, turn it off..
Take the speakers off the floor, out of corners, check you're not plugged into the sub line ;), take off the surround settings, if 2 speakers only?
You should really listen to the music you like on various stereos before you buy.

Good sound is subject to the amps being balanced with the speakers and the crossovers distributing the correct frequencies to the correct speaker (i.e. Woofer, horn etc..)...
Don't buy heavy insulated cable, it can cause noise. Get unidirectional cable for best results, there'll be no phase issues, 'clearwater' cable is good.

The best solution for Greg would be to change the speakers :(
Maybe, but this could sound bloody awful...switch your positive and negative connnections around, it will put the signal out of phase, but could reduce the bass...it will probably sound f*cking awful though..

Oh, bugger, didn't realise it's a single blob thing. Try to keep it out of the corners - they're bass heaven!

I actually moved it into the room next to the kitchen and it sounds better. It soundsbetter in the room that you're not in. Fire Dances sounds great on it (since the treble is less apparent), butHossanASS is missing some of the trebly stuff in Geordie's guitar...

I'd guess its a Bose "wave" which is a single unit

Greg, do you have the speakers on the floor, or up on a wall? Are they in the corners of the room?

I 'm a bit dissapointed w/the sound considering the ridiculous price. It has too much bass, like a hip-hop car radio or top 40 music blasted in a clothing store. It's hard to hear the treble on stuff like bluegrass, and the midrange on stuff like the Carbon Silicon cd doesn't come thru enough. Cds like KJ 2003, which already have to much bass mixed in, just sound worse. Any thoughts?
