You missed it. They appear to be re-running the program but it's a pretty
painful 2 hours to sit through to get to the good stuff.

Basically what it turned out to be, was all four original members onstage
together for the first time since late '91. They all said short speeches
about (the crappy) NME magazine, then played two songs, Stop and Mountain
Song. The broadcast cut as it appeared they were going to play a 3rd tune.

There's definately still issues between Perry and Eric clearly visible in
the body language of both guys, especially when one had to walk near or
around the other during the speeches. At first, I was seriously thinking I
was going to see a total trainwreck like when David Lee Roth came out with
Van Halen for the '96 MTV award thing, started hamming it up and the other
guys looked ike they accidently rescued a rabid dog they have to ride home
in a car with.

But the deal is, put the instruments on these guys and get 'em playing on
the stage and it still works to a degree.

It was rough, it was under rehearsed, no one was in top form (especially
Perry who sounds weak these days) and the sound mix was beyond terrible (you
couldn't hear the guitar) but by Mountain Song, they were rocking like
fuckin' Kings despite it all. I've never heard Avery's bass sound so massive
and the guy now looks like a cross between Mel Gibson and some bodybuilder.
He used to be the scrawny surfer kid in the 80's. Not any more.

The awards show itself was the most slipshod, poorly produced thing I've
ever seen. Tons of z list nobodies, old and shloshed Mick Jones of The
Clash looked like Ray Harryhausen, too bad he couldn't animate the shitty
obnoxiously drunk audience with his performance.

If this is the only time Jane's is going to play with the original lineup,
it's a very, very bittersweet way to wrap up their legacy.
